Transportation is the Blood Line of Any Economy. A country’s GDP is directly reflected by the type of transportation system it has developed for both people’s movement and freight.
I am Dr. Narasimha Murthy, and most people call me “Murthy.” I got my B.Eng. degree from UVCE, Bengaluru, India. I left for Canada in 1980 and completed my M.Eng. and Ph.D. between 1980-1988 in Transportation Engineering at Concordia University, Montreal Canada. I have over 30 years of experience in transportation planning, traffic engineering, and ITS.
I have worked for a public agency (USA); private consulting (global) and run my own company Murthy Transportation Consultants (MTC) between 2006-2014. I have worked in many countries,” including the USA, Canada, India, Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, Afghanistan, UAE, Qatar, Lebanon, South Africa, Swaziland, and Senegal. I am a registered professional traffic engineer (T.E.) from the State of California. I have written over 30 technical papers in many areas of the transportation field, including transportation/urban planning, traffic engineering, ITS, freight, and smart cities.
I have co-authored a book titled “Transportation Engineering Basics” with Mr. Henry Mohle, P.E., published by the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE). I was selected as a panel member for studies/research with the Transportation Research Board/NCHRP.
Currently, I am assisting VNC as a Technical Expert for both Transportation Planning and Traffic Engineering, including ITS. I have worked in both Sharjah and Dubai for over 3 years on projects in the areas of transportation planning and traffic engineering. I have interacted with the local agencies of both Sharjah and Dubai RTA’s. As listed above I have also worked in many other Middle Eastern countries such as Qatar, Lebanon, and Saudi Arabia.
